WHEREAS, DIRECTOR LUTTRELL HAS SERVED STUDENTS AS A TEACHER, COACH, PRINCIPAL AND HUMAN RESOURCE SUPERVISOR WITH WILSON COUNTY SCHOOLS BEFORE ACCEPTING THE POSITION AS DIRECTOR OF SCHOOLS. AND. WHEREAS, DIRECTOR LUTTRELL BEGAN HIS CAREER IN EDUCATION IN TROUTDALE COUNTY BEFORE MAKING THE MOVE TO WILSON COUNTY, WHERE HE WOULD SPEND MOST OF HIS TIME AT WATERTOWN HIGH SCHOOL AS A TEACHER, COACH AND EVENTUALLY PRINCIPAL. AND WHEREAS MR. LUTTRELL EARNED NUMEROUS, NUMEROUS ACADEMIC HONORS AND AWARDS DURING HIS TIME AT WATERTOWN HIGH SCHOOL, WHERE UNDER HIS LEADERSHIP, WATERTOWN SAW SIGNIFICANT GAINS IN BOTH GRADUATION RATES AS WELL AS ATC SCORES. AND WHEREAS, PRIOR TO BECOMING DIRECTOR OF SCHOOLS, MR. LUTTRELL ACCEPTED A POSITION AS HUMAN RESOURCE SUPERVISOR. AND WHEREAS, BEGINNING HIS CAREER AS DIRECTOR DID NOT COME WITHOUT ITS CHALLENGES, HAVING LOST TWO SCHOOLS TO THE MAY 2020 TORNADOES AND THE GLOBAL COVID PANDEMIC. AND WHEREAS, DESPITE BEING FACED WITH THOSE CHALLENGES, DIRECTOR LUTTRELL WAS EFFECTIVE IN MAKING SURE WILSON COUNTY SCHOOLS CONTINUE TO EXCEL BY EXCEEDING THE STATE AVERAGE IN BOTH GRADUATION RATES AND ACT SCORES IN THE 2021 2022 SCHOOL YEAR, ALONG WITH SEVEN SCHOOLS ACHIEVING REWARD SCHOOL STATUS. AND WHEREAS, WILSON COUNTY, UNDER DIRECT ELECTIONS LEADERSHIP, CONTINUE TO EXCEED STATE AVERAGES IN PERFORMANCE AND ACHIEVEMENT, EARNING THE DISTRICT A COMPOSITE LEVEL FIVE DESIGNATION AND SEEING AN IMPRESSIVE NUMBER OF 15 REWARD SCHOOL STATUS DISTINCTIONS. AND WHEREAS, UNDER DIRECTOR DIRECTORSHIP, WILSON COUNTY SCHOOLS HAS HAD A SIGNIFICANT ADVANCEMENT IN SCHOOL BUILDING PROGRAM, INCLUDING THE RECONSTRUCTION OF STONER CREEK ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS. AND WHEREAS, ALSO UNDER THE DIRECTOR LUTTRELL LEADERSHIP TO MEET THE NEEDS OF WILSON COUNTY'S RAPIDLY GROWING COMMUNITY, TWO NEW SCHOOLS HAVE BEEN CONSTRUCTED. LEGADO ELEMENTARY, WHICH OPENED IN FALL OF 2025, WITH CENTRAL PARK ELEMENTARY SET TO FOLLOW IN FALL OF 2026. ADDITIONALLY, CONSTRUCTION WILL BEGIN SOON ON NEW WATERTOWN MIDDLE SCHOOL, AND RENOVATION OF LAKEVIEW ELEMENTARY WILL BEGIN SOON.
